ALFONSO CATALANO

Born in Switzerland, in Brugg, in 1967. He starts moving his first steps as a photographer in 1991 for “Il Giornale di Napoli”, covering mostly social news. He reports about the complexity of the urban reality in Campania and in the South of Italy, bringing to light thorny issues such as the lack of housing, the inhumane living conditions of patients living in psychiatric institutions despite the Basaglia Law, environmental disasters.

He then moves to Milan where he graduated at the Riccardo Bauer Institute and where he worked for the agencies Farabolafoto and La Presse and where he currently is part of the team at SGP by  SGP - Stefano Guindani Photo, who represents him.

Winner in 2004 of the Venice Movie Stars Photography Award at the 61st Edition of the Venice International Film Festival.
